Siding is the single biggest curb-appeal upgrade you can do — and in the Tennessee Valley, the wrong siding choice ends up rotting, warping, or fading within a few years. We help you pick something that handles the humidity and looks right on your house.
Siding types we install
- Vinyl siding — most cost-effective, low-maintenance, lots of color choices. Modern vinyl is much better than the 90s stuff.
- Fiber-cement (James Hardie) — long-lasting, fire-resistant, paint-ready, holds color well. Our go-to recommendation for homes that want a 30-year exterior.
- Board-and-batten — vertical board look, popular for farmhouse-style and modern builds. Available in fiber-cement or engineered wood.
- LP SmartSide engineered wood — middle ground between vinyl and Hardie on price and performance.
- Cedar shake accents — usually a feature wall or gable on a mostly-Hardie or vinyl house.
- Trim, fascia & soffit replacement — included when needed to make the new siding sit right.
Our process
- Walk-around inspection. What's there now? Is the sheathing solid underneath? Are there rotten areas hidden behind the existing siding (especially around windows and at grade)?
- Material recommendation & estimate. We'll tell you what we'd put on our own house if it were yours, why, and what the trade-offs are.
- Tear-off and inspection. Old siding comes off, sheathing gets checked. Any rot or moisture damage gets called out and priced before it gets covered up.
- House wrap. Proper moisture barrier (Tyvek or equivalent), taped at seams. This is what actually keeps your wall cavity dry — siding is the wear layer.
- Install. Proper expansion gaps, proper nailing, factory-recommended fastening pattern. Joints staggered for clean lines.
- Trim & caulk. Window and door trim, corner boards, caulk lines that look intentional.
- Walk-through with you. From the street and up close.
Why fiber-cement for the Tennessee Valley
If you're choosing siding for the long term in Chattanooga, fiber-cement (James Hardie's HardiePlank or similar) is hard to beat. It doesn't rot, doesn't warp in humidity, holds paint for 12–15 years, and is rated to handle wind and impact. It costs more than vinyl up front but pays back over the life of the house. That said — vinyl makes a lot of sense too, especially on rental properties or where budget is the deciding factor. We don't push you toward one option.
Timeline
A typical single-story house in the Chattanooga area is 5–10 working days for full siding replacement, depending on square footage, complexity, and whether trim has to come off. Two-story homes run 8–14 days. Weather can push the schedule.
Siding across the Chattanooga area
Older homes in Red Bank and North Chattanooga often have aging masonite or T1-11 siding that's overdue for replacement. Hixson subdivisions from the 80s and 90s frequently have first-generation vinyl that's faded — modern vinyl or a Hardie upgrade transforms those homes. We're also happy to come out to Signal Mountain and Soddy-Daisy for estimates.
If you're replacing siding, it's the right time to also think about a roof evaluation and exterior paint on trim — all three together create the curb-appeal jump.
